The hk prize is an annual award established by the Society for Hong Kong Studies to recognize outstanding research on Hong Kong and its multifaceted connections with the world, past and present. It is sponsored by SHKS and ICAS, and is open to all scholars and students from around the globe.
The winner of this year’s hk prize will receive an engraved medal and a cash award of HK$25,000. The winning article will be published in ICAS’ peer-reviewed journal, Asian History Review. An interdisciplinary journal of Chinese and European history, the Asian History Review is one of ICAS’ flagship journals. It publishes high quality articles on Chinese and European history that make a contribution to the development of Asian studies. The journal also offers a platform for dialogue between historians of Europe and China.
Its aim is to encourage young scholars to explore the relationship between Hong Kong and Asia, as well as to contribute to the advancement of Hong Kong studies. Its articles are authored by academics and specialists in the field of Hong Kong studies from both sides of the Pacific. The journal is available on the internet and in print. Its editors are scholars from prestigious universities in Hong Kong and Europe.
The winners of this year’s hk prize have been named at a ceremony in Hong Kong. War Child Alliance’s Mark Jordans and Luke Stannard will receive the prize for education development. They were honoured for their work in developing evidence-based systems to help improve the physical and mental health of children in conflict-affected areas. The hk prize was established in 2016 and is worth HK$30 million (around $3.8 million).
This week, the Asian Tour heads to Hong Kong for the LINK Hong Kong Golf Challenge. The top-two finishers will earn a cheque for $2m. Last year, LIV Golf reserve Ben Campbell claimed his maiden Asian Tour win at this event, finishing one shot clear of Ripper GC’s Cameron Smith.
