Data sgp is a software package used to calculate student growth percentiles and projections/trajectories using large scale, longitudinal education assessment data. These may be from standardized tests, portfolios, grading scales and/or other sources. It provides a variety of graphical displays associated with these results, including charts showing student growth and achievement reports.
The package can be downloaded from Github and is primarily used for analysis of student growth data. However, it can also be used to develop educational policy and/or practice. For example, it can be used to identify specific student needs for intervention or support. It can also be used to evaluate the effectiveness of school, district and state educational systems and programs.
SGPs are a set of statistical measures of student progress that take into account both proficiency and academic growth. They do not require multiple test administrations and are a good fit for accountability systems that emphasize student learning and development rather than solely on test score based measures. SGPs can provide valuable information to educators and parents about the progress of students who are receiving a variety of academic services, such as tutoring or special education services.
Our current research investigates the validity of SGP estimates and their implications for educational reform. In particular, we investigate the relationship between SGPs and other indicators of academic success. The main finding is that relationships between SGPs and other indicators are robust to a variety of assumptions about the structure of student achievement in schools and districts, and even when these relationships are not directly causal.
