The Hong Kong Prize

The hongkong prize is an international award that honours scientists who have made significant contributions to scientific research for social benefit. It is one of Asia’s premier awards and attracts thousands of applicants each year. In addition to monetary prizes, winners receive access to Hong Kong’s premier research facilities and opportunities to network with leaders in their field of study.

The Hong Kong Prize is open to all Academy Fellows with a manuscript that meets the criteria of being either a clinical study (including prospective and retrospective clinical trials), an observational or epidemiological study, a meta-analysis or a review article. The research should have been published in a peer-reviewed journal before 1 January 2021.

Winners will be honoured at an awards ceremony, and also be invited to present their research work at local and overseas science conferences. They will also be provided with opportunities to collaborate with fellow researchers in Hong Kong and other countries through seminars and research internships. Moreover, they will be awarded a plaque and will have the opportunity to use Hong Kong’s premier research facilities.

The prize was launched to encourage young scholars in their early careers to publish their research findings and promote scholarship on Hong Kong history. It is a highly competitive prize with a long term goal of recruiting new volumes into the Royal Asiatic Society’s Hong Kong Studies series. It is supported by the Sir Lindsay and Lady May Ride Memorial Fund.

Those who have done extraordinary things, like using technology to assist homeless individuals or creating liquid biopsy technology that allows doctors to diagnose cancer more quickly, should be applauded. The HK Prize aims to encourage more people to follow their dreams and pursue the best in their life, as well as boosting Hong Kong’s status as a global science hub.

This prestigious award recognises scientists who have a unique and distinctive approach to their research, whether it is in the fields of astronomy, life sciences and medicine, or mathematics. It is one of the most prestigious science awards in the world, and it’s also known as the Nobel Prize of Asia. The finalists are announced in September each year, and the winners are awarded with a monetary prize and a commemorative certificate.

The hongkong prize has been named after two precious elements: the pearl and the jade amulet. These symbols represent humanity’s spirit of harmony, and the hongkong prize hopes to help build a better world through education. This award is open to travelers from all over the world, including Southeast Asia and mainland China. Interested participants can enter the contest from March 1.
